We also offer resources, including a darkroom, digital lab, and photobook library, which are currently closed but will be open again after we relocate to our new space at 1200 Lincoln Street.⁠

Additionally, we have a permanent collection of over 800 fine art prints which produced our current exhibit, Looking Back, Moving Forward: Permanent Collection Highlights. Pictured is the opening reception for the exhibit, an event that was also free and open to the public. ⁠

From May to July, teenagers (ages 11-17) can participate in courses focusing on digital photography basics, using smartphones for capturing street scenes and portraits, cyanotypes, and more. ⁠

Our workshops range from just 2-days to week-long courses, each lasting several hours and providing valuable instruction to encourage aspiring photographers to grow their practice. ⁠

Some of the courses require access to a digital SLR camera. Loaner equipment is available through CPAC on request. ⁠

@apa_la presents their annual curated photo compet @apa_la presents their annual curated photo competition, OFF THE CLOCK. Darius Himes (@dariushimes), International Head of Photographs at Christie's, will curate this year's competition, selecting his top one hundred images from all submissions.⁠
⁠
Selected images will be shown in a catalog mailed to winners and key influencers in the advertising, corporate, and fine art sectors. Artists will gain further exposure through APA LA's online gallery and features. ⁠
⁠
The three Best In Show winners will be featured on the APA LA website and catalog. They will receive a matted and framed print of their winning image and a twenty-minute portfolio review session at APA LA's virtual Fall Portfolio Review. ⁠
⁠
OFF THE CLOCK has no categories, image series, or creation date restrictions. They only ask that your submitted work be strong, original, creative, and genuinely personal. ⁠

Entry fees: $20 per image for APA Members and $40 per image for Non-Members ⁠

On the challenges of curating this show, Johnston says, "I spent weeks going through every item by hand, reading historical documentation, and making lists. My goal was to combine pivotal works from the 20th century with national and regional works that demonstrate the breadth of the medium. I also wanted to highlight talented local artists that people may not know." ⁠

The @santafeartinstitute presents Sovereignty, the theme for the 2024 SFAI International Thematic Artist Residency. This theme calls for an artistic and creative engagement at the multiple intersections of sovereignty as it pertains to the individual, jurisdictions, systems, and society as a whole.⁠

Applicants can qualify for a BIPOC Award, which grants $500 to selected applicants who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. As well as a new Indigenous Award that SFAI will honor up to ten $500 grants to American Indian, Native American, or U.S. Indigenous applicants.⁠

CPAC is partnering with @mymikescamera and @sonyelectronics for an exclusive three-part photography workshop that includes a virtual seminar beginning on Wednesday, March 15 followed by a guided walking tour on Saturday, March 18. The walk will include interactive photography instruction from Brian Rabin of Mike's Camera and Ashley Ondricek, Sony Technical Representative. Sony camera equipment will also be available for borrowing on a first-come, first-served basis. ⁠

Then on Tuesday, March 21, you will share a selection of favored images captured on the walk during a virtual group critique. Afterward, you can pick up a 12x18 print of your favorite photo from your local Mike's Camera Store. ⁠

Cost: $249 (avoid online processing fee by registering in person at Mike's Camera)⁠
