Objective:

In this workshop, students will use their cameras as a tool for seeing our environment in new and unexpected ways.

Course Description:

This is an online workshop that is open to all skill levels and camera types. Students will be given weekly assignments that will inspire them to engage with observing their environment in new and creative ways. Students will be encouraged to bring a camera on walks, bike rides and road trips, while studying the landscape and built environment around them.

This workshop is a series of six sessions that will be a combination of studying work by a wide variety of photographers paired with guided and supportive sharing of student work.

The goals will adapt to the need of the students but will include support for making compositional decisions, doing experiential research to support projects, lots of practice talking about work in progress and will wrap up with sharing and celebrating the creative work made during the course of the workshop. This workshop will not be recorded to encourage open dialogue and a feeling of safety among participants.
