Beginning Digital Photography

Level: Beginner, Refresher

Learn how to use all the features of your digital SLR or point-and-shoot to take more interesting pictures in this intensive hands-on workshop. You will be comfortable choosing shooting modes, apertures, shutter speeds, ISO, and white balance.

Topics covered:

  • Shooting and understanding aperture, shutter, and manual settings
  • Using your camera settings to achieve the artistic look you desire
  • Setting white balance
  • ISO and using Flash

Supplies: Please bring your digital camera with charged batteries, memory card, camera case, extra battery.

About the Instructor: Ellen was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her first taste of photography was when she was 6 years old shooting with her Brownie. She currently resides in Castle Rock, CO with her two black Labradors. After careers in recreation and owning her own retails store, Ellen began pursuing her passion for photography. She studied photography at various schools in the Denver area, where she developed her artistic voice.  Ellen has taught at Working with Artists, Englewood Camera, Digital Photo Academy, and EY Photography and has exhibited her work at numerous galleries in Colorado, including RULE, the Foothills Art Center, Gallery 910 Arts, The Center for Fine Art Photography and Flash Gallery, among others.
