Objective:

Students will learn the advantages of enhancing and manipulating both analog, and born-digital images into black & white through post-processing techniques.

Course Description:

Students will be taught to look at black and white images critically, from a historical standpoint and discuss how black and white images matter in the present artistic climate. Students will learn skills to manipulate and enhance digital files with post-processing techniques. These skills will introduce methods to to modify and enhance digital images and digitized film formats, allowing for more creative outputs.

A basic understanding of post-processing software (Photoshop, CaptureOne, Lightroom, etc.) will be necessary. If working with film, the instructor is willing to scan images for use in this workshop provided that the negatives are received at least one week in advance.
