Objective:
This workshop will introduce cyanotype as an alternative photographic process, which can be done with or without a camera. The concept will be discussed through history, science and practical application.
Course Description:
Students will learn cyanotype process through chemistry, paper coating, and contact printing in the sun. A discussion of the types of materials suitable for cyanotype printing will be discussed and experimented with.

- Creative ideas/materials for contact printing
Materials Needed:
- Objects for contact printing (anything with strong shape or silhouette), or digital negatives (no larger than 8 x 10). Traditional contact printing subjects included botanical specimens, and much later building plans which came to be known as “blueprints”.
- Chemistry, paper printing options and some objects will be provided. Students may bring clothing or other items to print on, such as t-shirts, hats, gloves, napkins, towels, table clothes or any materials made from 100% natural fibers.
