This two-day workshop introduces students to cyanotype printing and creating digital negatives for cyanotype printing. We start with the cyanotype process on day one—mixing the light-sensitive solution, coating and drying paper and making exposures. The second day we look at digital photographs and walk through the conversion and calibration process in Photoshop, learning about curves, color profiles, and digital film transparency papers to create digital negatives.
Students will learn how to use test strips to determine exposure times and how to trouble-shoot any under- or over-exposed prints.
