The goal of this workshop is to recognize and progress the expression and individual voice of each student. All photographers go through periods in which we feel “stuck” and sometimes need help seeing exactly what our pictures are about; how do we improve, what do the pictures mean?

Over this three-session workshop, students will participate in a series of critiques and discussions as well as picture taking and writing exercises. Students will be provided with time and guidance to develop tactics in self-driven investigation and will be challenged to do something other than what they normally tend to do. This process will help students begin to realize how on their own they can play with and improve their artistic practice. At the end of the workshop, students will have produced a new body of work that holds more complexity and sophistication, and will have gained deeper insight into their own personal vision and expression.

To the first session, please bring a collection of work to share (digital or printed) and a notebook.
