A big thank you to everyone who showed up last A big thank you to everyone who showed up last night to support the opening of Tell Me a Story! It was an incredible evening of celebrating photography and the narratives told through such artistic dedication.

Juror Mary Statzer chose photographer Jesse Freidin (@jessefreidin) for the Juror's Award.

Freidin was America's leading fine art dog photographer for the past 15 years, and now focuses on elevating the experience of the trans/tgnc community through portraiture and interviews. His photography is part of over 150 private collections and has been exhibited in galleries from coast to coast.

His current series entitled “Are You OK?” documents the faces and stories of trans/non-binary youth in the United States ready to stand up to political annihilation. Flanked by supportive families, a diverse group of outspoken and deeply loved youth present their strength and joy to the world in a revolt against the country’s attempt to erase them.

Freidin will also be teaching a workshop with us in March 2024 on website building for artists through the Squarespace platform. Use the link in our bio to learn more and register.

We will be highlighting other award winners in the coming weeks!

If you were asked to tell a story with photographs If you were asked to tell a story with photographs, how many images would you need to get your point across? What if you could only choose one?

Opening this Thursday at CPAC, Tell Me a Story highlights the power of storytelling in a single frame. The exhibit includes a range of styles, from landscapes to still-lifes, portraiture to abstraction – but each one tells a unique story that stands on its own.

Maybe it's being in a new space or the time of year that puts us in a reflective mood...either way, we want to recognize our Veterans Workshop Series and the 60 local U.S. Military Veterans who have graduated from the program since we started this journey in 2017. What began as a simple idea to support Veteran artists by providing free photography workshops has grown into a life-changing program for many participants who have gained the skills and confidence to share their artistic vision. We are deeply thankful to program participants, instructors, supporters, and staff who pour their hearts into this program.

Over the past six months, our current class of participants learned to refine technical skills, hone ideas into a body of work, create a portfolio, and write about their creative practice. Their final photography projects will be shown to the community in an exhibition from January 12 – February 17, 2024.

If you are a local military Veteran and would like to apply for the 2024 program, keep an eye out for the application opening in the new year. Or learn more about the program by using the link in our bio.

And a special thanks to @jpmorgan, Prevent & Prevail, @hahnemuehle_imaging, @metropolitanframecompany, @digitalsilverimaging, and @sony for supporting this year's program.

CPAC will be hosting an virtual artist talk with J CPAC will be hosting an virtual artist talk with Jacque Rupp (@jacquerupp) for the last PhotoVox of 2023. Rupp is a documentary and fine-art photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area, due to release her third book next month, The Red Purse.

Published by Daylight (@daylightbooks), The Red Purse is about love, loss, and rebuilding. Shortly after the death of her husband following a long illness, Rupp bought a red purse, which became deeply personal to the artist as it represented freedom in an otherwise dark and uncertain time as a young widow. The Red Purse project is, in the end, not a tale of grief but rather a toast to life, to redefining, and to flourishing.

Join us on December 13th at 6:30PM (MST) to learn more about Rupp's journey as a photographer and her new book. Register using the link in our bio.
