VANESSA SAVAS

Our photography community thrives because of CPAC members and artists who remind us how deeply photography can move us, and Featured Member Vanessa Savas does just that. She creates luminous floral photographs that dwell in the space between the seen and the unseen. Through soft color, diffused light, and delicate forms, Savas transforms flowers into meditations on memory, love, and impermanence. Untethered to place or season, her blooms drift like fragments of a dream, inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with the quiet, transcendent beauty of the natural world.

ARTIST STATEMENT

By Vanessa Savas

My work explores the fragile intersection between the seen and the unseen—between the physical world of flowers and the ephemeral space they seem to emerge from.  Through soft and colorful palettes, diffused light, and delicate forms, I aim to capture flowers not just as botanical subjects, but as vessels of emotion, memory, and transcendence.  Shaped by years of travel, countless lifetime experiences, and loves both found and lost, each image becomes a way of preserving the memories along my journey and reflecting the delicate intersections of connection, remembrance, and spirit that define a life fully lived.

These blooms are not rooted in any one place or season.  Instead, they drift—like fragments of a dream or a fading thought—evoking the fleeting beauty and mystery of things that cannot be held.  I connect with the way petals dissolve into air, shadows blur their edges, and light transforms even the most familiar flower into something otherworldly.

Amid the intensity and noise of daily life, these images offer a quiet space for reflection.  They invite the viewer to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the quiet mystery of nature’s ethereal and transcendent beauty.

Ultimately, my work is a meditation on impermanence, grace, and the way the natural world can mirror the delicate, often intangible aspects of the human spirit and experience.  Each bloom a reflection of the moments that linger in memory long after they have passed, and resonating of a world both intimate and eternal.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Retired U.S. Air Force officer and pilot Vanessa Savas is a Miami-based fine art photographer whose creative journey began in childhood near Cleveland, Ohio.  Her love of fine art and photography deepened as she traveled extensively throughout her military and civilian careers.  She first studied art and photography formally as a teenager in Ohio and Florida, then later at the U.S. Air Force Academy where her Heart sculpture was selected for inclusion in a special exhibition.  Vanessa continues to create work that bridges her experiences of discipline, exploration, and artistry.

Savas takes great inspiration from the impressionist painters, and through her photography, seeks to illuminate life’s nuance and that which might otherwise go unseen.  Her primary focus is currently on nature and macro photography.  With her work, she invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the essence of being, and the universal light and energy inherent in all things.

Vanessa’s “Ethereal Flowers” project is showing as part of the Colorado Photographic Arts Center Veterans’ Exhibition (January – February 2026).  She has also exhibited her work in Miami at the Aura Copeland Gallery (Miami Art Week December 2025 – January 2026), at Les Couleurs Art Collective and Gallery in Miami (January 2026), and in Miami Beach at the photographic art show “In the Creative Light” (September–November 2023).  Additionally, several of her pieces are included in a private collection in Miami.
