Objective:
This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced photographic artists who are interested in developing a cohesive body of work for exhibition, publication, portfolio review, or continued artistic growth.
Participants should come prepared with a few images they are considering for a portfolio or series to discuss with the class.
Course Description:
Do you have more ideas than you know what to do with? Maybe you have a few series in progress, subjects you keep returning to, or images that have not quite found their place together yet.
From Practice to Portfolio with Angela Faris explores the process of shaping a photographic series that reflects your vision in a cohesive and meaningful way. Through a combination of practical advice, creative prompts, readings, and in-depth group discussion, participants will move from ideation and subject refinement toward developing a focused body of work that is both intentional and personally meaningful.
Each week will include short inspirational readings and practical prompts designed to support each participant’s individual goals. Group discussions will help students sharpen their editing skills, clarify their creative direction, and better understand how individual images can work together as a larger project.
Participants will also explore strategies for sequencing a body of work and consider potential formats for exhibition or publication.
