Hal Gould (1920 – 2015) was a well-known champion of photography in the Rocky Mountain region who inspired countless artists and visitors to his legendary Camera Obscura Gallery in Denver. He was also a gifted artist himself, a commercial photographer, and a co-founder of CPAC.

In his honor, CPAC established the Hal Gould Vision in Photography Award in 2013 with the objective of recognizing people and institutions that have raised awareness, value, and appreciation of photography in the Western Region. Gould received a special honorary award at the first event in 2013, and attended the 2014 and 2015 events. He passed away on June 25, 2015, at the age of 95.
