Join us for an introduction to the world of large format photography! This workshop will introduce teens to the basics of large format black & white film photography. Students will learn the components and management of the 4×5 view camera, as well as how to process and print large format negatives. Through hands-on lessons and assignments to shoot still life, portraits, and architecture, students will become familiar with the motions and nuances of a view camera, which takes more time to set-up and to compose than today’s instant digital methods. Students will study prints from CPAC’s permanent collection to explore ideas, then set out to make their own photographs. Students will process black & white sheet film, then make both contact prints and enlargements from their negatives.
