In this week-long workshop, students (age 14 – 17) move beyond beginner methods into intentional creation of portraits and documentary street photos using the tool they carry with them most often – a smartphone.

Course Description:

Cell phones are ideal photographic tools for telling stories, capturing portraits, and being discreet when photographing in public. This workshop, for older teens ages 14 to 17, focuses on storytelling, composition, portraiture, and evaluating, anticipating, and capturing a sense of place and the people in public places. We take daily guided photo walks and edit our work with internal phone apps and the Snapseed app.

Students will have a chance to print 4 of their favorite images during the week. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend the final slide show of student work on Friday at 11:30 am. Any smart phone with a camera that can run the Snapseed app (listed below) will work for this workshop.
