In the entire history of photography, the ability to adjust and refine the color of our photographs has never been easier or better than it is today. This workshop does a deep dive into all aspects of post-production color adjustments, and the tools and techniques for making your photographs look their best with Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. Time is provided during class for working on provided images and individual monitor calibration. Workshop participants will receive a copy of all presentation materials.

  • Monitor Calibration
  • Using Lightroom’s Monitor and Print Color Gamut Warnings
  • Global vs. Local Color Adjustments
  • Applying Profiles, including Camera Profiles
  • Understanding Raw Color Balance
  • Using Temperature and Tint in the Basic Panel
  • When to use the White Balance Dropper in the Basic Panel
  • Defining color hue, saturation, and luminance
  • Using the HSL panel to make individual adjustments to hue, saturation and luminance
  • Applying precise local color adjustments with the Radial and Graduated Filters and Adjustment Brush
  • Using the Hue slider and Color Effect Box inside the Radial and Graduated Filters and Adjustment Brush
  • B&W has color too: using the B&W Mixer in Lightroom
  • Color grading for mood, message, and meaning
  • When to use and how to use the Calibration Panel color sliders
  • Using color Presets in Lightroom
  • Soft Proofing – avoiding color surprises when printing and converting files to other color spaces
  • Sharing correct color across multiple platforms
