Students will discover the real potential of Photoshop for the photographer, as they learn how to achieve more complicated tasks in image edits and even image construction.

Course Description:

This workshop suited to those comfortable working in Photoshop who have basic knowledge of selection and retouching tools, and adjustments, as well as those who have used or are just getting into the use of layer masks. The goal of this class is to help students learn more complex photo editing skills, how to combine photos, and to discover how those tools impact creative potential of Photoshop for photographers. Optional weekly homework assignments will be given to help with skill development. This class series will take place on Zoom and will be recorded for students to refer back to. The instructor will email students a Google Drive link of class files to be downloaded prior to class.

  • Superimposing images, or double exposures
  • Sky and background replacements
  • Selecting complicated subjects, such as hair
  • Repositioning a subject and its shadow
  • Controlling Depth of field by merging multiple photos

Materials Needed:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • note-taking materials
  • Prior to class, students will receive a Google drive link of files for download
  • A second monitor or device is highly recommended to view the instructor’s screen on one, while working in Photoshop on the other
  • Zoom account (free) for access to class*
