There’s more to photography than solely composing shots in camera. Try the fun challenge of creating photographic images outside the lens by combining multiple photos together on the computer using Photoshop. In this class we will be heavily working with a variety of techniques for layer masks, selections, and the brush tool. Many tips and details of each will be introduced, and a basic understanding is expected. If you are unfamiliar with masks and selection tools, taking Part 2 of this series is highly recommended beforehand. We will also discuss some compositional strategies when choosing which images to work with. This can help make the compositing process easier as well as result in a more engaging image. Students do not need to take parts 1 or 2 to take part 3.

Prior to class, students should have Adobe Photoshop already installed, and preferably have Adobe Bridge installed as well. Before the first session, the instructor will email you files that we will be working on during this three session class.

Materials Needed:

  • Computer with Adobe Photoshop installed
  • Some of own images to edit in Photoshop
  • Notebook and pen for notes
  • Zoom account (free) for access to class
