ABOUT | For April’s PhotoVox event we invited Jeff Phillips to speak about the world of photo zines. A photo zine is most often a hand-made, self-published book that is easy and inexpensive to create. Zines offer exciting potential for new creative expression and as a democratized platform that can help get your work out into the world. Making a photo zine can help you raise awareness about your practice, reenergize a stalled project, or even help you test the waters if you plan to publish a photo book.

In this presentation, we will:

– Take a tour of the zine universe, so that we can understand what’s possible

– Explore how visual artists are using zines in their practice

– Understand the fundamental process of zinemaking

– Share free resources to help you make your first photo zine

Three sessions per year are dedicated to portfolio sharing.
