ABOUT | For our January PhotoVox event, we’re gathering around an in-depth discussion of Instagram and how artists, commercial photographers and business owners within the photography field can best utilize the platform to showcase their work and connect with their community. We’ve invited photographer Kevin Hoth and business owner Danny de Zayas of From the Hip Photo to provide insight into their approach and considerations when engaging with their clients, fans, peers and audience via Instagram and pose topics for discussion for the group.
Join us to hear Kevin Hoth, and Danny de Zayas discuss the following:
- As a highly specific channel for photography, what is the best use of Instagram?
- What are some strategies for better engagement with our audience?
- How does a business address the issue of maintaining a cohesive visual presentation via social media, but also highlight and showcase different specialties or aspects of the business?
- Harnessing Instagram to network within a business community

Kevin Hoth has been working creatively with photography for over two decades. He has recently shown in the Small Works exhibition as part of the Medium Photo Festival, Portfolio Showcase 12 at The Center For Fine Art Photography, and in at the Rhode Island Center for Photography. He was recently a Top 200 finalist in Critical Mass 2019. Danny de Zayas met Nina while pursuing an art degree in New York City. Nina studied photography and illustration at Pratt Institute before earning her MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art while Danny received his film studies degree at New York University. After getting married in 2008, the couple founded what would become From the Hip Photo: a joint venture specializing in an interdisciplinary approach to photography. The company’s name was a nod to the candid, spontaneous style espoused by its team and the fresh, vibrant aesthetic of their work. These days, Nina and Danny helm a thriving, seven-person studio headquartered at Stanley Marketplace. Their mission: to capture genuine moments with artistry and creativity, all while providing unrivaled and honest service. From the Hip Photo’s diverse clientele includes start-ups, Fortune 100 brands, restaurants, hotels, individuals, families, and non-profits.
