ABOUT | Join us this June for a timely and informative PhotoVox with entertainment attorney Dave Ratner, founder of Creative Law Network and one of Colorado’s leading advocates for artists and creative professionals.
PhotoVox is CPAC’s monthly program designed to help photographers strengthen their artistic voice through community, dialogue, and shared learning. In this special session, Ratner will explore the legal rights and considerations photographers should understand when making images in public spaces.
From street photography and public events to protests, architecture, and environmental portraiture, photographers often navigate complicated questions around privacy, consent, and usage. This presentation will provide a practical overview of what photographers can legally photograph in public, where limitations may arise, and how to better protect both themselves and their work.
Topics will include:
- Photographing in public spaces and at public events
- Street photography and protest documentation
- Model releases and when they matter
- Making portraits of strangers
- Commercial vs. editorial image use
- Copyright considerations for photographers
Whether you are an emerging photographer experimenting with street work or an established artist documenting public life, this conversation will provide valuable insight into the legal and ethical realities of photographing in shared spaces.
Join us for an evening of practical knowledge, open discussion, and empowerment for photographers working in the public sphere.
