ABOUT | The March PhotoVox event is a collaborative panel with guest speakers Arielle Myers, Chief Curator at Union Hall, and Mike McClung, Gallery Director and Co-owner at Michael Warren Contemporary. This event is dedicated to helping photographers prepare to take their work to the next level. Creating a strong body of work is the first step, but what do you do once you’re ready to show it? Our speakers will offer advice on steps you can take now. We’ll also discuss longterm strategies; what types of exposure are best for your work and how to work with galleries or consultants. This event gives you a chance to start a dialogue with two art representatives before you go out on your own.
MEET OUR SPEAKERS
Arielle Myers is a curator and writer based in Denver, Colorado. She is an advocate and supporter of emerging artists, and brings this passion to her role as Chief Curator at Union Hall, a new non-profit contemporary arts exhibition space in downtown Denver. As Chief Curator, Arielle directs the creative vision of Union Hall, developing all exhibitions, programming, events, and partnerships. Arielle earned her MA in Art History from CU Boulder, and has previously held positions at NINE dot ARTS, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York City. In addition to her work at Union Hall, she continues to develop her curatorial practice through exhibitions produced independently and collaboratively.
Mike McClung together with his partner Warren Campbell, owns Michael Warren Contemporary in Denver Colorado. Having worked in both business and in creative industries for the last 30 years, the gallery has been the perfect bend of his professional experience. Over the years, Mike has been to some 3500 gallery exhibits and nearly 2000 museum exhibits around the world; that coupled with looking at books, magazines, websites, television, restaurants, offices, and homes…well, it adds up to a LOT of artwork. Michael Warren Contemporary opened in the heart of Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe in 2014 and in 6 years has mounted over 100 exhibits and welcomed some 87,000 visitors to the gallery.
