Join us for our October PhotoVox, where Samantha Johnston, CPAC’s Executive Director & Curator, and Whit Sibley of Friday Works will share indispensable insights and insider tips to properly packing and shipping your photographs (including material examples for you to see and touch).

And let’s talk contracts – because they’re more than just paperwork. Samantha will emphasize the importance of filling them out correctly, along with providing additional requested materials like high-res JPEGs, artist statements, bios, and more. These details may seem small, but they’re the building blocks of putting on a successful exhibition!

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Samantha Johnston has been the Executive Director and Curator at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center since 2015. She holds a certificate in Arts Development and Program Management from the University of Denver, an MFA from Lesley University College of Art & Design, and a BFA from Alfred University. Prior to joining CPAC, she taught photography and visual arts for 12 years at high schools in Boston and Denver.

She has curated exhibitions with contemporary artists such as Jess T. Dugan, Daniel Coburn, Barbara Ciurej & Lindsay Lochman, and Zora Murff. Samantha has served as a reviewer at Houston FotoFest, Review Santa Fe, PhotoPlus New York, Medium, Month of Photography (MoP), and Filter. She has juried several exhibitions including Critical Mass and The Fence.

She is a longtime member of the Society for Photographic Education, and served as Treasurer of the Southwest region from 2013-2016 and Co-Chair of SPE’s 2013 Southwest regional conference in Denver. She was named one of Colorado’s Top 100 Creatives 3.0 by Westword and has been featured in Lenscratch.

Whit Sibley is owner and operator of Friday Works a professional fine art services company in Denver, Colorado, USA. We are fully insured and specialize in the installation, storage, packing and transportation of fine art in Denver, Boulder, Vail and Aspen region.

We work with Private Collectors, Museums, Galleries, Corporate Office Spaces, Designers, Artists, Non-profit Organizations, Conservation Studios and Government accounts.

Whit is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and artists. He has spent the bulk of his professional career in the world of fine art, managing installations of private, gallery, and museum collections in and around Denver. His work is characterized by an approachable personality, an eagerness to work with his customers, and a hands-on approach with a strong attention to detail.

Throughout his career, he has managed numerous fine art shipping and handling projects throughout the United States and The Americas, Europe and Asia. He is fully bilingual (English and Spanish) and a former resident of Sevilla, Spain.

ABOUT PHOTOVOX

PhotoVox is a monthly program offered by the Colorado Photographic Arts Center to help you strengthen your artistic voice with the support of other photographers and artists in the Denver Metro community. Meetings are held monthly at either CPAC’s downtown gallery or virtually on Zoom, and feature discussions led by local arts and community leaders. Three sessions per year are dedicated to portfolio sharing (Print Share).
