01 Jul Picture Me in the Sky Photographs
The Colorado Photographic Arts Center and Picture Me Here (PMH) partnered to offer a photography workshop to new Americans. Led by Boulder artists Melanie Walker and George Peters, participants learned to make photographic kites, banners, and flags using objects from home, found images, and even their own bodies. Participants learned new ways to create imagery to share their stories, using the sky as their gallery.
The workshop took place over three days, and culminated with a kite-flying event where participants, their families, and their communities participated in flying kites and experiencing the banners and flags created in the workshop. In addition, some of the objects from the workshop will be featured in a Picture Me Here exhibition at the historic McNichols Civic Center building in January 2017.
