Objective:

In this week-long workshop, students will learn the art of street photography through daily photo walks around The Golden Triangle district in Denver.

Course Description:

Every city moves to the beat of its own unique drum and through street photography, we can slow down and frame-by-frame, tell the story of our city. In this engaging workshop for all experience levels, students will learn to master the manual settings on a digital camera while learning how to use elements of color, light, and movement to create dynamic images. Through daily photo walks students will learn to see beauty in the mundane, magic in the details, and learn more about themselves and the people they share the streets with. For inspiration, we will visit the Denver Art Museum (just steps from CPAC) and use the works we see there for assignment prompts and photo challenges (DAM is free to 18 and younger, so no additional fees are necessary). This workshop will be 5 days in length (M-F) for 5 hours per day (9am-2pm) culminating in a showcase for family and friends on the last day. We will begin each day with a short lecture to learn about our cameras, the history of street photography, plus ethics and safety practices.
