Objective:
Students learn how to make photographs with large format 4×5 view cameras from loading the film to developing and printing in CPAC’s darkroom.
Course Description
Learn to shoot like Ansel Adams with a 4×5 View Camera. First developed in the 1800s, view cameras are large, expandable cameras that shoot individual sheets of 4×5 film. In this class we will learn how to operate the camera–from set up to framing and focusing under a dark cloth–in addition to basic film processing and darkroom printing. Each day we will practice loading film, then operating the camera to shoot various subjects. We will then develop the film, make contact prints in the darkroom, and admire the work we have made.
