April 10 – May 9, 2015
Reception: Friday, April 10, 7 – 9 PM

The Gretel Project is a collaborative literary, performance and multimedia installation that brings together a visual artist, a composer, a poet and a writer for the epic retelling of Gretel from the fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel.” Through the diverse voices of the character, the project is an interdisciplinary engagement that offers a way to think about the original story, what it has given us, what it has hidden, and what it might reveal to us in a 21st century landscape where issues it originally sought to explore are re-contextualized in a globalized world.

Through Gretel’s eyes, we explore ideas of imagination, the notions of constructed and deconstructed realities, the multiple possibilities of self, identity, gender,

home and safety.
