While your batteries recharge or your film is drying, take time to focus on writing about photography for yourself. As much care as you put into practice when creating your photographic art, you can carve out time to make a statement that explains it. This workshop intensive helps you translate images and the work you put into your art. This is especially useful for students feeling uncomfortable with writing and want to have some guided practice putting ideas down on paper. Including a field trip to the Denver Art Museum or equivalent museum experience (you get a vote on where to go, too!), we’ll complete writing exercises that provide structure to translating everything into a 1-page artist statement. Perfect for artists with upcoming exhibitions looking for help refining their statement.

Materials Needed:

  • Notebook or Laptop to take notes and participate in writing exercises
  • Encouraged to bring current or previous artist statements for review and discussion (not required)
