Create your own small-run publications with your photographs in this photo-zine workshop for all ages. A zine (pronounced “zeen”) is an open invitation to make a statement about absolutely anything and share it with others. Bring your photos, clip out appropriated text and images, draw, rip, paint, or write a unique zine about whatever you want! Zines are intended to break boundaries and act as a DIY platform for your voice.
In this 2-part workshop, we’ll explore a short history of zines and artist books, practice simple bookbinding techniques, and look at examples from the Denver Zine Library.
Materials Needed:
Students must supply their own photographs. Magazines, newspapers, and random junk mail will be available to use, along with scissors, glue, pens, and markers. Students are welcome to bring in any additional supplies to create their zine.
